Charities Aid Foundation 80% of the British population give regularly to charity yet few of them do so in ways in which the charities can receive the full benefits available through the tax system. CAF is committed to providing the means for more people to give tax efficiently. Just as it offers services to enable charities to work and use their resources more effectively, so it offers a range of services to individuals - allowing them to maximise the value of their donations with the minimum of effort.

More than 50,000 individuals have opened CAF Charity Accounts. They each receive a CharityCard - the world's first debit card designed exclusively for charitable giving - and a Charity 'Cheque' Book allowing them to give to any charity they choose. When the Charity Account is funded through deed of covenant or Gift Aid, CAF reclaims the tax and adds it to the account. Thus, the amount available for individuals to give to their chosen charities increases by almost a third. And CAF checks to ensure that only organisations of genuinely charitable status receive the money. Regular statements are provided and standing orders can be made, just as with any bank or building society account. The CAF Charity Account allows tax free donations of any size at any time to any charity in the UK and many based overseas.

LCC The London Cycling Campaign exists to increase cycling in Greater London for the benefit of individuals, local communities and the wider environment by:
  • promoting cycling
  • improving conditions for cycling
  • raising the profile of cycling

It is non-party political and its activities are non-violent, non-discriminatory and environmentally responsible.

It works with a wide range of organisations, including other cycling, sustainable transport and environmental groups as well as major employers.

Friends of the Earth Friends of the Earth is
  • The largest international network of environmental groups in the world, represented in 61 countries.
  • One of the leading environmental pressure groups in the UK.
  • A unique network of campaigning local groups, working in 250 communities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
  • Largely funded by supporters. Over 90 per cent of income comes from individual donations, the rest from special fundraising events, grants and trading.

Friends of the Earth Trust is a charity which

  • Commissions detailed research.

Over the years Friends of the Earth has won many battles with government and industry - achieving bans on ozone-destroying CFCs, reduced trade in rainforest timber, increased support for cleaner energy technologies, and much, much more.

National Cycle Network Sustrans is a civil engineering charity which designs and builds routes for cyclists, walkers and people with disabilities. Sustrans is promoting a 6,500-mile National Cycle Network for the United Kingdom which will link schools, houses, shops and workplaces with each other and with the countryside.
VSO VSO is an international development charity that works through volunteers. It enables people aged 17-70 to share their skills and experience with local communities in the developing world. VSO passionately believes it can make a difference in tackling poverty by helping people to realise their potential.
Oxfam Oxfam is a development, advocacy, and relief agency working to put an end to poverty world-wide. Oxfam believes that poverty is not inevitable: it can be tackled. In partnership with local groups, Oxfam works with poor people to help them help themselves.
Shelter Shelter, the national campaign for homeless people, is the UK's largest registered charity working on behalf of homeless and badly housed people.
ITDG ITDG's mission is: "To build the technical skills of poor people in developing countries, enabling them to improve the quality of their lives and that of future generations."

Most of the world's poorest people earn their living from small-scale enterprises which they conduct from their homes, fields and workshops. They rely on small-scale, often traditional technology to succeed. ITDG operates at this community level. ITDG helps people to build on their existing knowledge and skills, and to improve their technical capacity in ways that are appropriate, affordable and sustainable. This careful management of technical change in people's lives can help them to survive rapid economic change, while protecting their environment. ITDG works with appropriate technologies in the following sectors: manufacturing; food production; agro-processing; energy; building materials and shelter; disaster prevention and mitigation; transport; and mining.

Founded in 1966 by EF Schumacher, ITDG is now an international group of development organisations with charitable status. Its head office is in the UK, with regional and country offices in the three continents of Africa, Asia and South America. The group's annual turnover is over £11 million.
